Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of heroes who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then settled his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as key figures in the powerful family could assist the party enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Questers and Strategists tables.
Audiences can expect finding out which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
