He explained that the ministry is “examining” cars from China within its fleets, but noted that security is a issue in every modern cars.

We have a fleet of thousands of vehicles in the MoD and Chinese ones account for a tiny fraction.
However whether you’re traveling in a vehicle from China or a non-Chinese car, what we’ve asked our people is to avoid connecting MoD devices into their car, not to have conversations at a secret classification in any kind of vehicle, due to the increasing threats of surveillance that exist in all vehicle, to only have those confidential conversations in protected areas. That’s a wise and reasonable thing for everyone worried about safety.

When it was suggested that it would be prudent for the ministry to stop using every cars from China, the minister replied: That is exactly what we are looking into at the present time.”

The announcement comes as reports from Norway and Denmark have warned the United Kingdom to the presence of multi-purpose shutdown mechanisms in Chinese electric buses, which could allow the Chinese government to switch off buses and bring chaos to transport systems.

Furthermore, a Russia intelligence vessel has been shining lasers at RAF aircrew, described as a “extremely risky” action by government representatives.
