Nearly twenty-five thousand homes in south-east Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on the start of the week after intense storm systems passed over the state, bringing powerful gusts reaching 109 kilometers per hour.

Substantial Hailstones and Broad Destruction

Residents reported large ice chunks measuring up to 7cm in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that multiple regions across Queensland had been affected by large hailstones.

Response teams were working to restore electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews working to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.

Victorian Storm Challenges

Rescue organizations received 598 requests for assistance across the region, mostly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

During the peak on the previous day, in excess of 28,000 power users in Victoria were lacking electricity.

Meteorological Predictions

Damp conditions were forecast to persist along much of eastern Queensland this coming days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was predicted as the most rainy day, with continued severe weather risk predicted across multiple regions of both regions.

Safety Concern

Medical authorities alerted that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
